I found this unit to be very informative in terms of the various types of syllabi that there are to choose from. It is apparent to me that the situational syllabus is most commonly used to teach another language. When I was studying Spanish - this was the way in which I was taught. It made the lessons a lot easier to follow and understand, and I feel like I retained more from studying that way. There are seven common ways to express the future in the English language, but the be-going + infinitive and the present continuous are most frequently used ones. Be-going + infinitive is used to express intentions, predictions based on present evidence and plans, and is always followed by a verb. For defining arrangements, decisions and plans without a time frame is Present Continuous is used.
