Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Modals help accentuate or add to the verb use, however I believe as does the text that it should be saved for more experienced English learners. It is difficult enough to teach verb usage and tenses. After this knowledge is learned then students can enhance their sentence structuring. Clauses however, are used so frequently that we must teach when appropriate in order to enhance the students ability to speak with proper structure. This unit was definitely a good review of some of the basic concepts as well as a good refresher on certain topics I had totally forgotten. One term that caught me off guard was the word “gerund”. However, even though it was new to me I have actually been using gerund terms all my life. The further breakdown of certain parts of speech were especially helpful such as the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs.
