Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
This unit provided interesting information about the importance of teaching reading and listening skills and the best ways to approach this by creating integrated lessons. I learnt which other skills may involved when reading and listening (predictive, scanning, skimming, deduction, etc.) and that the main problems when teaching receptive skills may be related to the language, the topic or the tasks that the students need to complete.I am glad to know that according to Ittt course I as an English teacher have autonomy to replace certain activities on the book based on student's needs. In my opinion a combination between a course book, authentic material and created material provides a great learning experience.
The balance is necessary due the fact that nowadays young students are quite agitated and get bored easily. We need to be updated to attend their demand.
