Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In this unit I learned about the differences between receptive and productive language with receptive language focusing on reading and listening while productive language focuses on writing and speaking. Both are very important and it's important that a balance is struck between the two and that throughout the class the teacher strives to engage students in a variety of topics to keep them focused and motivated. This unit covers the vocabulary, grammar, and functions aspects of teaching a new language. We learn what comes during the Engage, Study, and Activate stages of each aspect above (vocabulary, grammar, functions). The unit also provides tips and examples of what can be taught/what methods to use in each stage. We also learn how the straight-arrow, boomerang and patchwork teaching technique can be applied to each.
