EFL Teaching Position in Portugal

If you would like the experience of teaching in a small but successful school in the historical Roman town of Chaves in the north of Portugal, 10km from the Galician (Spanish) border, then we would love to hear from you.
CAA English was founded in 1993 in Chaves and in 1994 in Vila Real (capital of the district) by a family of enthusiastic English teachers. The school in Chaves has about 250 students and a staff of 6 teachers. We are recognized by the Portuguese Ministry of Education and by the University of Cambridge as a centre of excellence in the ESOL Exams Preparation with very positive results. CAA English lessons emphasize communication in a friendly, enjoyable and creative environment for small groups of children, teens or adults at various levels, from beginners to advanced.

The town of Chaves is well known in Portugal for its Medicinal Thermal Springs called “The Spa of the Emperor” and for its monuments, the star being the iconic Roman Bridge over the Tamega River. There is easy access to other larger cities and to the Spanish border.
Contract is for one academic year. Extension to 2 years a possibiity.

Position details
Our ideal candidate is someone who is open-minded, positive, who enjoys working with all age groups but mainly Young Learners, is highly motivated, plans lessons well, is a team worker and is interested in growing as a teacher.
Our full-time position involves teaching mostly young learners, teens and young adults at various levels including the possibility of teaching Cambridge Exams preparation courses, so some experience with teaching exam classes would be ideal.

Salary
Starting salary is 1.000€ net per month + accommodation (1 bedroom apartment worth 250-300 a month) for a 25-hour teaching timetable (30 contract hours include the teaching hours, planning at the school, meetings and development).

Qualifications
* Be a native speaker of English or near native
* have a university degree
* be CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL or TEFL certified
* have 1 year of relevant teaching experience
