Teach EFL in Hong Kong

Date posted:2010-04-26 | Writer: English Excel | Email: [email protected]

English Excel recruits TEFL qualified teachers periodically throughout the year. Teachers are required to work in one of a group of seven British owned and managed extra-curricular English Schools located in Hong Kong. Positions involve being stationed at one centre only; teachers are not required to travel from School to School. All School locations are located conveniently (not in far out districts such as Tsuen Wan or Shatin). Teacher accommodation is located centrally on Hong Kong Island providing an easy commute to work.

Benefits package includes a competitive salary with monthly bonus and contract completion gratuity.  Contracts are typically 12-14 months.

Learners consist mainly of children between the ages of 3-14. Classes are limited to 2-4 students (not 20 plus as with many Hong Kong positions) and last for a duration of 1.5 hours. Classes are strongly geared to oral interaction and require a friendly, outgoing approach from teachers.

Please note: Saturday is a working day.

Native Teachers interested in joining our team, should email their current C.V with a coving letter to the address given on the job heading. The recruitment process involves 2 telephone interviews. In your application, please state available times for telephone interviews. Applications should include: C.V., covering letter and a recent photograph

Applicants must have a first degree, at least 5 GCSEs including English & Maths and  hold a TEFL., TESOL, CELTA. or other teaching qualification.

Due to the interactive nature of our classes, it is essential that teachers have a friendly personality.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was very interesting and helpful. I never thought that it would be something that would be a unit in itself but I really enjoyed the unit worksheet examples. I find that they are super helpful with bringing ideas into the classroom to help the students better understand the lesson and help myself as a teacher use all my resources to make sure I am teaching the language to the best of my ability.Evaluation and testing are used to measure the how much the students have learnt and can remember. There are a number of ways to access a student’s knowledge or language level such as tutorials, evaluation tests. At each stage, it’s important to give different tests to check the language level of the student such as the placement test, the diagnostic test, the practice test and the progress test.
