Is TEFL accepted in Asia?

Yes, TEFL is accepted in many parts of Asia and is commonly requested by schools, language centers, and online teaching companies hiring English teachers. A 120-hour TEFL certificate is often considered the standard entry-level qualification, particularly for teachers who do not already have a background in education. ITTT offers online TEFL and TESOL certification options that can help prepare teachers for classroom roles in Asia and elsewhere. Requirements are not the same everywhere. In destinations such as Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Cambodia, employers may look at your TEFL certificate along with other factors such as your degree, teaching experience, passport, interview performance, and local visa or work permit rules. Some schools may prefer candidates with classroom practice or previous teaching experience, while others are open to newly certified teachers. TEFL certification does not automatically guarantee a job, visa, or specific salary, but it can strengthen your application and show employers that you have training in lesson planning, classroom management, grammar, and teaching methodology. If you want to teach English in Asia, choosing a reputable TEFL course with at least 120 hours is a practical first step.
