How does TEFL training work?
TEFL training works by giving you the practical knowledge and teaching skills needed to teach English to non-native speakers. A typical TEFL course introduces core areas such as English grammar, lesson planning, classroom management, teaching vocabulary and pronunciation, and developing students’ reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. You also learn how to choose materials, structure lessons, correct errors, and adapt activities for different ages and ability levels.
Online TEFL training is usually self-paced, allowing you to study from home and complete units or modules on your own schedule. Some courses include tutor support, written assignments, videos, or lesson planning tasks. In-class TEFL training is more hands-on and may include observed teaching practice, peer interaction, and direct feedback from trainers. Combined or hybrid options may include both online study and classroom-based practice.
After completing the course requirements, you receive a TEFL certificate that can be used when applying for English teaching positions abroad, online, or in your local area. Requirements vary by employer, so many teachers choose a course with enough hours to meet common job expectations. ITTT offers a range of TEFL certification courses to suit different goals, whether you are preparing to teach overseas, teach English online, or build confidence before entering the classroom.
