TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - TEFL Video Journal - Linda, Part 5
Linda lives in China and is taking the 120-hour TEFL course with ITTT. This is the fifth installment of her TEFL review video journal outlining her experiences on the course. In this video Linda tells us about unit 5 of the course which covers aspects of classroom management. The unit has plenty of useful information on how students can be grouped within class and the types of activities that are suitable for different groupings. It also covers ways of dealing with problem behavior and methods for engaging students when they may not be interested in learning. At a quarter of the way through the course Linda is still clearly excited about earning her TEFL certificate.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
this unit focus on the present tense. the present tense is one of the three main tenses the other being past and future. each one of these three has within it four sub tenses equaling a total of 12. this causes difficulties in teaching other languages as some have a lot less. for example Asian countries have only one tense and Slavic countries three. the four sub tense with in the present tense are simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. to use a simple tense is to use a subject and base (you can also put a verb in front such a i do….). continuous tense is by adding ing to the end for example i am eating. the perfect tense is using have for example i have eaten. and finally perfect continuous tense is where adding the previous two together or relating past activities to the present such as i have been eating all day.
