Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

For an non-native speaker, tenses is one of the most difficult part to learn and teach. The only way to remember the tenses is to memorize or know the formula on the conjugation especially of verbs to serve as clue on what proper tense to use. Sometimes it also helps to have keywords to help differentiate the tenses from each other- example (continuous.. continue, simple perfect- something done etc..)This unit describes the importance of 2 receptive skills: listening and reading. In detail the 2 skills are divided into sub-skills: Predictive Skills, Scanning,Skimming, Gathering Detailed information and Assumptions from writing/signs. It also covers obstacles which can occur while teaching these skills and how to prevent them. For example to pre-teach vocabulary prior to a reading or listening task.
