Davy College, a bilingual international school located in Cajamarca, northern Peru, is always looking for experienced, well qualified teachers to join a team of educators.   We are staffed for the 2008 school year but are looking for candidates for 2009. We offer competitive salary, benefits and a relocation allowance.

Davy College is committed to being a bilingual international school cognizant that it is located in Peru.  All employees should be prepared to participate fully in the activities planned at the school and/or in the community in order to fully appreciate the richness of the Peruvian culture.

Because of the remoteness of Cajamarca, first consideration will be given to teaching couples. Although it's an excellent and safe place to raise a family, single candidates may experience difficulty adjusting to Cajamarca.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit focuses on the productive skills, speaking and listening. Two main focuses are accuracy and fluency. Both are equally important. There are several different classroom activities a teacher can use enhance both such as: drilling and information gap exercises. Writing is a skill teacher often avoid doing in the classroom because it takes too much time, so it is often assigned as homework and not done. This unit is a general overview of what it means to be a good learner and a good teacher. It gives a brief overview of the types of roles a teacher can find themselves in during a lesson. I learned the most from the section that differentiates between levels of learners (e.g. beginners, elementary, low/pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced) because previously I had blended the levels more.
