This unit gave an overview about how to plan lessons. This unit was very insightful because I have previously taught and have planned lessons in literacy and math. However, I was told to only plan scripted and structured lessons and was expected to read off the script during the actual lesson. I very much prefer this method of flexible planning where the plan is used as a guide and can be tailored to student needs. In Unit 9 i learned the process, as well as the intricacies of lesson planning. In order for teachers to be organized and effective educators, lesson planning is essential. There are many components of a lesson plan, including: learning goals, procedure, timing, materials, student information, etc. Clear and concise lessons are important, but they also need to be flexible due to the dynamic nature of the classroom.
