Date posted:2009-09-02 | Writer: Yale Institute | Email: email@example.com
Yale Institute is a small private English conversation school located in Ueda, a scenic, historic city of 160,000 in Nagano Prefecture. We are not affiliated with Yale University. We teach students of all ages, from pre-schoolers to adults. We are at present looking for a native English speaking TEFL teacher for a full-time position, to start October 1 or as soon as possible thereafter. Native speakers only (NOT 'native level') need apply. Applicants with some ability to speak Japanese will be preferred.
The position involves private and small-group lessons at our main school and in the area, plus full responsibility for the English program at a local elementary school with approximately 200 students in grades 1-6. The overall balance of lessons is roughly half adults, half children.
The work week is basically six days with Sundays off, but with frequent days off on weekdays here and there, in addition to all Japanese national holidays; all in all, the number of days off is above average for this type of job. We schedule most of our lessons on a reservation system, so actual working hours will vary according to bookings, but in general will fall between 1:30 and 9:30 p.m. at the main school, and public school hours at the elementary school. You will teach a maximum of 25 hours per week, for a salary of \\250,000 per month.
A valid working visa and an international or Japanese driver's license are required. Yale will provide visa sponsorship if necessary, but if you need to make a trip outside the country to obtain your visa, the trip will be at your own expense. We will help you find an apartment and pay the initial deposits; the rent and utilities are your responsibility, but we will provide necessary furnishings as required. A car will be provided, if necessary, for lessons outside the main school; it will be available for private use for a small monthly fee.
Please email a cover letter and resume to Mr. Osamu Takeda at the e-mail address given on the job heading Include all items in the body of the email; attachments will not be opened.
