VACANCY: English as a Second Language Instructor (voluntary assignment 3 months)
AKF Afghanistan is seeking a dedicated and committed volunteer who is interested in teaching Advanced English to its staff in Afghanistan for a three month period starting in November 2005.
Whilst the successful candidate will teach initially in Kabul, he/she will also be required to travel to the regions in the northeast of Afghanistan where its programmes are primarily based (Badakhshan, Baghlan and Bamyan).
The volunteer will provide Advanced English classes to senior Afghan National staff who are currently in senior management positions or have been identified to take on senior management positions within the organization and need to further enhance their current level of English (speaking, reading, writing, and listening). He/she will need to determine the English language needs of the students and set up a curriculum and timings according to studentÃÂ³ abilities and availability.
Should have demonstrated the ability to:
* Assist in the development of English language courses and learning resources for specific programs
* Teach a course without assistance or supervision
* Teach in a variety of situations
* Utilize innovative teaching methods
* Implement evaluation tools for classroom instruction
Qualification & Experience
* A Certified instructor of Teaching English as a Second Language
* 1 - 3 years' experience in the field of English language instruction
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
* Computer knowledge and ability to use market products on English language
AKF will pay towards travel costs, insurance, in-country costs such as food/accommodation and a local allowance to cover other incidentals while in the country.
