With cell phones, texting, video games, and a world of other instant gratification tools, the students of today need a continuous stream of stimulating entertainment. There is a constant struggle between teachers and students to maintain an interest in learning. Playing games in the classroom can assist in this struggle. What is a game? Is a questionnaire a game? A game by definition can be an amusement or pastime or a competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators. A questionnaire by itself may not be a game, however with a little imagination just about anything can be turned into a game. Games in the classroom have advantages and disadvantages. Some of the main advantages include; they keep students interested and make the class fun. They can turn an intimidating classroom into a fun place where students can enjoy learning in a relaxed environment. Games have a unique way of breaking down barriers and are a great way to tie fun with learning. When using games effectively they become quite efficient because it?s done in a natural setting
